Jacksonville Golf & Country Club was founded in June 1987 with the acquisition of 732 acres for $10.4 million, naming the area "Jacksonville Country Club." The groundbreaking ceremony for the Club's 18-hole golf course, designed by golf course architect Clyde Johnston with player consultant Fuzzy Zoeller, took place in the Spring of 1988. Hunt Club Road's brick entryway was completed in June 1989, setting a prestigious tone for the neighborhood. In 1989, Jacksonville Golf & Country Club welcomed its first residents as a private, member-owned club.
